両毛線でE231系とE233系付属編成による異例の臨時列車。普段とは異なる顔ぶれが、沿線に新たな賑わいと興奮をもたらしました。本稿では、その運行の詳細と、SNSに寄せられた熱い反響をまとめます。

  • 特にE231系U2編成は付属編成のトップナンバーであり、両毛線小山口駅での初の客扱いとなりました。
  • E233系U225編成は、営業運転開始前に桐生へ疎開されたことがありますが、小山～桐生間での営業運転は今回が初めてと見られます。
  • 車内自動放送や車内LED表示器は、これらの臨時列車では対応していなかったようです。

また、E233系臨時列車については、2025年4月29日の臨9424Mが小山駅に10時01分に停車していることが確認されています。この列車が桐生方面へ向かうと仮定すると、この時刻が小山駅の発車時刻に近いと考えられます。

これらの臨時列車の運行により、通常の定期列車に加えて、小山駅と桐生駅間の輸送力が大幅に増強されたことがわかります。特に午前中から午後の時間帯にかけて複数本の臨時列車が運行されたことは、この時間帯に足利方面への移動需要が集中していたことを示唆しています。

まとめ

Special Note

  • The operation of the Ryomo Line by the basic formation (10-car train) of the E231 and E233 series is set as a regular train between Maebashi ~ Shinmaebashi, but the operation between Oyama ~ Kiryu with an attached 5-car train is a very rare case.
  • In particular, the E231 series U2 train was the top number of the attached train, and it was the first passenger at Oyamaguchi Station on the Ryomo Line.
  • The E233 series U225 train has been evacuated to Kiryu before the start of commercial operation, but this is considered to be the first commercial operation between Oyama ~ Kiryu.
  • It seems that automatic in-car broadcasting and in-car LED displays were not supported on these temporary trains.
  • Many railway fans gathered along the railway line and at the station to take pictures of the running scenes of unfamiliar trains.
  • Ashikaga Flower Park Station was very crowded with passengers using the special train.
  • The Ryomo Line / Kiryu bound was set as the destination, but the Ryomo Line / Oyama bound was not set and was just a normal display.

Departure and arrival times of major stations

As mentioned above, the departure and arrival times of the main stations (Oyama Station and Kiryu Station) of the E231 series special trains that we were able to confirm are as follows (April 26, 2025).

  • Rin9429M: Kiryu departure 11:46
  • 9430M: Departure from Oyama 13:16
  • Rin9435M: Kiryu departure 4:43

In addition, it has been confirmed that the E233 series special train on April 29, 2025 Rin9424M stopped at Oyama Station at 10:01. Assuming that this train is heading towards Kiryu, it is assumed that this time is close to the departure time of Oyama Station.

It can be seen that the operation of these special trains has greatly increased the transportation capacity between Oyama Station and Kiryu Station in addition to the regular regular trains. In particular, the fact that several special trains were operated from the morning to the afternoon suggests that the demand for travel in the Ashikaga area was concentrated during this time.

Summary

In April 2025, it was revealed that in response to the increase in passenger demand associated with the Ofuji Festival at Ashikaga Flower Park, special trains using the E231 and E233 series attached trains were operated on the Ryomo Line. In particular, on April 26, the E231 series U2 train made multiple round-trips between Oyama ~ Kiryu, and on the 29th, the E233 series U225 train was operated as at least one special train. It is believed that these special trains played an important role in facilitating the transportation of tourists.

Future challenges include obtaining detailed information on the operation of the E231 series special trains on April 27, the operation status of other train numbers of the E233 series special trains, and detailed data on how many passengers these special trains carried.
